Villa Gaia

Breakfast

In the early morning, the smell of toasted bread fills the house and draws you to the dining room or the terrace where breakfast is served.

Served from 7 to 10 am

Brioches, jams, fresh bread (depending on the season)

Yesterday’s bread, the season’s jams

The day before, Anne-Françoise baked her sourdough bread and the braided loaf scented with orange blossom. Less conventional but delicious, she also made a bread with seeds, buckwheat flour and rice.

All of it goes with a selection of homemade jams: bitter orange marmalade, green tomato jam, gingerine (a local melon), quince, and the classic apricot and strawberry.

In a breakfast room with an old tiled floor, loaves of bread on a wooden board beside a laid table, jams on a tray in the background.

A breakfast to start the day well

Homemade whole-milk yoghurts have their place on the buffet. They are delicious with Anne-Françoise’s secret granola, sweetened only with apple juice.

For those who like savoury, like Georges-Eric, there is a tasting of goat and sheep cheeses from a neighbouring producer. For the more adventurous, there are olives from the garden.

A baking tradition

Here and there, small jars of homemade anise-seed biscuits, and rusks made to the family recipe of a grandfather who was a baker in Marseille.
